Growth happens in the summer. In nature this results from warmth, sun, and rain. Around the ministry of the Student Center this summer genuine fellowship with believing peers and time spent in the word, in prayer, and in service promise to feed a season of growth that participants will remember for years. We dream of seeing young people enjoying richer vitality come September due to bonding with life-long friends, drinking deeply of God, feeling confident in his word, perceiving the world clearly, and the energy of gratitude that welled up from their gracious service. Because of a unique quality of the UNM culture, most of the young people who attend the University remain in Albuquerque through the summer; a significant majority of the students grew up in and still lives in Albuquerque. These generally work through the summer, earning some income while maintaining a flexible, even whimsical schedule. Moreover, college-age people come back from other colleges to spend the summer at home. These join the resident students to create a significant college-age population with time on its hands. For this reason we decided this year to attempt to make a significant effort to use the summer here in Albuquerque to bring these together in fellowship and in spiritual growth. Normal university function might take a break for the summer, but real life takes no pause and spiritual growth shouldn’t either. Perhaps you know people who remain in town and need a group for the strengthening, support, and fun of it. We plan to roll through the summer particularly for the purpose of blessing them. If you want to include your friends then you probably need to know what is planned. Moreover, your walk with God and service to Him will benefit greatly from these events, so you need to plan your schedule to participate. Go look at the events section of this web site for the details of what, when, and where things are planned. The variety of opportunities and uniqueness of each, except for the reliable Thursday night meetings, will keep each event fresh, so each will be a once-in-a -lifetime moment. Go look. You need to plan ahead. How great it will be when our group enters the fall semester charged, clear-headed, and confident, whether here at UNM or CNM or elsewhere in the country. Don’t miss your chance to grow this summer. Losing this growing season will leave you spiritually smaller for the rest of your life. |
