Hey, gang. We're really rolling and I'm excited to see where the Lord takes us. Here are some opportunities for personal development in Christ and in His grace. Be sure to involve yourself in something personally. We offer these smaller group studies to facilitate more accountability and personal investment in the discovery and growth process. The following are group discussions that are available.
> Reasons to Look: This study provides participants the logical resources necessary to show people who don't believe the Bible why they should look for the truth and where it might be found. Starting with the reality that the Universe exists and progressing through the questions regarding how it came to exist to questions about it's maker and how we might know Him, this study concludes by looking at the arguements supporting the claim that the Bible is inspired. This study faces the reality that many lost people of our day don't believe the Bible and we who feel compasion for them need to be able to teach them about God without basing arguments on it until its validity is established. This study is concluded. However, if you feel an interest in fortifying the basis of your faith or equipping yourself to discuss these issues at the drop of a hat, let Scott know and he will be thrilled to start another discussion.
> Men's and women's groups: Ongoing through the semester, the next meeting will be on the 4th or the 11th of December. Check the events calendar for the latest schedule.
> The Greatest Adventure: Designed for first-year participants and all who need a systematic look at the truth that is in Christ Jesus to both know the claims and how to reveal them to others in the word. There are two studies going weekly on Tuesdays, one happening at 3:30 pm at the Student Center, the other at 12:30 on the lower patio just outside the northwest corner of the SUB at the umbrella tables. The one at 3:30 is just starting this coming Tuesday, 11/24, so get in now.
> Jesus as you've never met Him: In the SRC Commons building on UNM's campus we walk with Jesus through John's account of His life. This is geared for dorm residents, but everyone is welcome. The time has changed to Monday at 12:30 pm.
> Epic Experience: On Monday's at 7:00 pm a handful of people will be gathering to share their common experience in reading through the narrative of the Old Testament. I created a reading list that presents the Old Testament in epic novel form that takes 11 weeks to read through if you read for about 30 minutes on five or six days each week. It entails reading the story straight out of your own Bible. I can e-mail the list to you if you want the experience. If you want to share your experience and see the journey through others' eyes, come to discuss. This group will also help each stay current with the reading. In the amount of time it takes to watch a sitcom you can get to know God at an entirely new level and bond with those who love Him, from Abraham to Brittany and Nick.
> Other possibilities include a study of discipleship, or even a weekly discussion of something like Romans. Let me know if you want to get in on something. However, my schedule for the evening is set, because I can't really dedicate another night to group meetings. Any new meetings will have to be over breakfast or at some time during the day.
If you aren't committed to something like this I strongly encourage it. This kind of exposure can transform you. These might be of paraticular interest if can't be with us on Thursday evenings. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.
